Paddle, laugh and try again

Fancy taking to the open sea without leaving Mirande? Climb aboard a canoe, kayak or paddle and let yourself glide along the water... or to the rhythm of your splashes!

There are two routes for you to follow in the heart of nature, and outings on the lake for the more leisurely (or the freestyle paddle kings).

In short, it's the perfect place to test your balance, have a good laugh and cool off without the air conditioning.

Art in the colours of summer

At the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mirande, summer is getting emotional with the exhibition Entre elles et l'art.
Here, women artists pick up a brush, pen or ink to express their sensibilities, their outlook and their quiet (or not so quiet) strength.

It's a lovely suspended moment, to be savoured without an audio guide (but with your eyes wide open).
In short, a wonderful artistic break between two sunburns.

Freshness has found its HQ

At Domaine d'Escapa, the "guinguette" awaits you, quietly laid out facing the lake. Here, evenings flow like a chilled glass of wine: lightly, with music, and in the shade of large parasols.
People come here to savour local platters, toast the sunset, or simply enjoy the evening breeze that blows away the heat of the day.

This is the place to be in summer. And we bet you'll want to come back (even if you don't have an excuse).

Booking essential: 06 50 49 49 03.

Sweet demonstration, guaranteed effect

Ultra-fine stretching, air-drying, skilful folding and a little Armagnac for the finishing touch: here, the croustade is made before your astonished eyes (and hungry nostrils).

Small group of gourmets (10 max), friendly atmosphere, and a big chance of leaving with stars in your eyes... and sugar on your chin.

The cane of Toussaint Louverture

François-Dominique Toussaint, known as Toussaint Louverture, is an emblematic figure in the history of the abolition of slavery.

Born in Saint Domingue in 1743 on a wealthy plantation owned by the de Noé family, he led a revolt in support of the decree granting freedom to blacks, and became General of the island. The success of this former slave displeased Napoleon, who had him captured and transferred to a dungeon in the Doubs, the Fort de Joux, which became his tomb.

His walking stick was donated by the Noé family (from Ile de Noé, a neighbouring village to Mirande) to the Mirande Museum, where you can see it for yourself.
